Credit card services and fraud
24 September 2008
If you want to protect your credit card from identity theft, there are a few steps you can take to protect yourself. Credit card fraud can happen to anyone, so protecting yourself is important.
These include:
- Checking statements regularly and reporting items you don't recognise. Keep your receipts to check against them.
- Change your passwords and PINs frequently and don't tell others what they are.
- Discuss with your bank if they offer what credit card services they offer in case you are a victim of credit card theft.
- If you have been a victim of identity theft, cancel your credit cards straight away. Get a copy of your credit file and check to see if there are any unfamiliar entries. You can also ask your bank to monitor your bank accounts.
Compare credit cards and be sure to discuss with your bank what credit card services they offer to help protect you against credit card scams.
